Indonesia Tsunami Appeal
On Friday 28 September, a devastating earthquake and tsunami disaster struck Indonesia, affecting over 1.5 million people.
More than 2,000 people are confirmed dead, over 2,500 are injured and over 70,000 people have been evacuated to emergency shelter sites. 200,000 survivors are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.
Action Against Hunger has sent an emergency response team to Palu and will be working with our local partner Yakkum Emergency Unit (YEU) to assess needs and provide food, water and sanitation in the wake of the Indonesia tsunami devastation. We will work with YEU to provide the most vulnerable people, women and children under 5 with sanitary kits, food and medicines. We will also focus on preventing children under 5 years old from becoming undernourished.
Thousands of people have lost loved ones, homes and livelihoods in the Indonesia earthquake and tsunami catastrophe. The risk of hunger is growing.
